The 2016 Aquathon Series sponsored by Zurich starts Tuesday night 7th June at Grattan Beach. The series includes a number of races of 750m swim and 5km run with the venues moving between a number of local venues. This year there will be 6 races in the series – The last race (7th) will be a handicapped race.
The competition is open to all Galway County Triathlon Clubs.
All participants must be members of TI. Evidence of membership will be required. You will also need to sign in every race night.

All events will start at 7/7.30pm sharp (as above), you need to register each night and are asked to be at the race venue half an hour in advance to allow time to register and set up your transition area.
Due to the expected increase in numbers, pre-registration is mandatory for the first two nights of the competition. Only those who have pre-registered can take part on these nights. This is to ensure that we have sufficient safety measures in place.
Note: Further entries to the races will be considered if numbers allow and can be entered on the night, with cash payment of E10 and proof of valid TI membership.
Those who register from GTC before Midnight June 5th will be put in a draw for a 2-Day Open Water Swim Camp!!

Race finish times will be provided only. We will not be providing swim finish/ transitions/ lap times.
Entry for the series is €10+booking fee - this covers you for all races and is payable through Eventbrite. Please note the €10 entry fee is for the full series regardless of how many races you participate in. The fee is to cover all expenses incurred.
Profits from the series will be made to the following charities:

Series Points System
Points are award for your best 4 races, , 100 points for 1st place, 99 for second, 98 for 3rd and so on.
This series cannot happen without volunteers; you are expected to marshal at one race for which you will receive 500 points
The overall winner (Male and Female race) - this is calculated on a cumulative points bases. Points are award for your best 5 races, 100 points for 1st place, 99 for second, 98 for 3rd and so on. 500 points are award for marshalling a race (you will only be awarded one set of 500 points for marshalling duty).
The FINAL race will be a handicapped race and will be open to all participants who meet the criteria below i.e. the slowest athlete will start first, the fastest athlete will start last. First past the finish line wins. John Cunniffe is a genius at working out athlete’s handicap and in years previous there has be a mass sprint for finish line. You must have completed a minimum of 4 races and volunteered in 1 race to be eligible to win the handicap race.
The Annual Aquathon Series Bake off will take place as part of the Series and tea/ coffee will be available for all athletes after each event. The Bake Off has become the real competition over the years! Please join in and contribute to this bit of fun too!
There will be a social night out and prize giving which is open to all participants on the conclusion of the series. Details to follow.
