The Annual Galway Triathlon Club Charity Prom swim took place recently in support of Galway Autism Partnership. The event which has been running for 5 years is proudly supported by Sarah Thornton Fitness who has been involved in the event from the very beginning.
This year the event facilitated the participation of all registered Triathlon Ireland members and saw an influx of support from neighbouring clubs and athletes from across Galway. In total over 100 swimmers completed the event raising €1,273 for the chosen charity on the night.
The flat calm, high tide on the night was a welcome change for swimmers who had braved the rough and tumble of turbulent water on many an occasion in the Bay throughout the Summer. Two swim distance options were available with a 2km from Blackrock and a 1km swim from Palmers Rock with both events finishing on Grattan Beach.
Fastest Swimmers on the night were Patrick Mc Bride and Joanne Flanagan in the Long Swim with Mollie Foley and Brian Clancy recoding the fastest times in the Short Swim.
Galway Triathlon Club’s winter training commences this week with sessions for adults and children across swim, bikee, run and fun.
