Women's Cycling Series Update
Attention Experienced Female Cyclists: Gauging your interest …
Good news travels fast, and so we are thrilled to formally announce the inaugural Women’s Summer Cycling Series for 2015. This is a joint venture between Galway Bay Cycling Club, West Coast Wheelers and Galway Triathlon Club to build on bespoke group race skills, establish stronger cycling training and provide safe cycling sessions. The aim is to grow this into a more established and recognised Women’s Training and Racing League in due course.
We are inviting experienced female cyclists to attend the initial spins on Thursday 11 June and Thursday 18 June, both evenings meeting at Oranmore Community Centre. Sign-on is at 6.30pm (Triathlon Ireland membership cards are MANDATORY) with the training spin going off at 6.45pm along the N6 to Craughwell, Loughrea and return on the 11th. The training spin on the 18th is from Oranmore to Carnmore, a loop and return. Same time for meeting and signing on.
If you’re still keen, you must attend a Skills Evening on Monday 22nd June, venue TBD whereupon attendance and satisfactory completion of this, the racing link will be released for the series of 3 time trial races and a final event. That’s quite a lot of hoop-jumping (which is impressive on a bicycle) but we wish for this to be a safe and successful series on which to build.
