ANNUAL DOOLIN TRIP

Are you up to the challenge of a night socialising sandwiched in between

2 days of cycling 75km min per day? These guys were!!!

On the 6th April, 40 GTC members will embark on our annual trip to Doolin and hopefully the weather gods are as kind this year as the last two years. Nonetheless I’m sure it will be an excellent weekend. See below for all the information needed for the weekend.

MEETING POINT

We will be meeting at the main entrance to Merlin Park Hospital across from Supermac’s. There is a small car park where you can leave your car. You will be required to be at Merlin Park gates 30 minutes before you depart as we have to register everyone allocate accommodation and get you dinner order so we can ring it in, in advance.

EQUIPMENT

  • No Helmet, No Cycle!

  • Make sure bikes are fully serviced, chain’s oiled, all nuts and bolts tightened and that your tyres are in good condition/pumped.

  • Please bring 2 spare tubes, a pump and tyre levers in the event you get a puncture.

  • Ensure you have enough food and drinks for the spin and for the return journey. We will be stopping in Ballyvaughan on the way to refuel.

  • You will need an overnight bag and clothes for socialising along with a change of bike gear for the return journey.

  • A rain jacket, check the forecast on the morning to see if it will be needed on the bike.

  • Rear mudguard on your bike as the spray in wet weather can distract the cyclists behind and lead to crashes.

We will be cycling in groups of similar abilities on both days, please ensure you have plenty experience with group cycling etiquette. There are plenty GTC group cycling opportunities that cater for all levels every weekend, so there is no excuses!
