| 2010 John Butler Sports Therapists Aquathon - Race 4 |
A big crowd of 21 gathered for the ‘race week’ edition of the 2010 John Butler Sports Therapist Aquathon in Dangan last evening. That didn’t mean the racing was any less intense and both men’s and ladies races were intensely fought affairs.
However strong the racing the men’s race provided the same result with the unconquerable Dermot Lowe holding off the ever improving Roberto Krug to notch up another win. Krug is closing the gap every week and this week narrowed the gap to just 22 seconds. Huge credit to Tony McNicholas as well who finished third just 2 days after finishing The Humbert half iron distance race in Mayo.
The Ladies however provided all the more excitement as they raced their hearts out. Tara Whyte was always in the back seat as she conceded 80 seconds to arch rival Ruth Lynch out of T1, she closed the gap to under a minute by the time lap 2 had started but the 2009 champ was running out of road, quiet literally, and Lynch showed real determination as she held off the challenge to take her first win the 2010 series by a narrow 14 seconds. The affable Fiona Donavan has owned third spot in this series since day 1 and she cruised home, wearing her trademark smile, to claim that slot again this week.
Many thanks to Culan, John Flan, Mark, Keith, Christopher (Dunne) and Miriam (and the beewinkies) for volunteering last night. Next week we move to Loughrea lake for the first of the Predator/Galway joint events, 7pm. See results attached . |
