Clear skies and dry conditions and a visit riverside by the series’ main sponsor himself were three novelty features on display at night 3 of the 2010 John Butler Sports therapists aquathon on Tue evening. A few newcomers to the racing list as well brought the total number of members registered to race almost to the 50 mark to make this years version of the event the biggest ever, even before the predator invite season kicks in. Even though the conditions changed completely from the week before the top of the men’s field remained almost the same. ‘Aqua – King’ himself Dermot Lowe made up an almost minute and a half deficit to arch rival, and series top fish Roberto Krug to take top spot again, and with Tony Mc and ‘The Doc’ waving flags for the evening Mark Samuels showed no hangover from the weekends racing to place a strong third With Tara Whyte on Hols ( riding her bike from Malin to Mizen), and Ruth Lynch on Marshal duty Fiona Donavan sain “wham, bam thank ye Ma’ams” to steam to victory in the ladies race with the third best time of the night overall to boot. Chris Burke showed her strength to finish second, no mean feat after a gruelling weekend, holding off the ever improving Grainne Reid who finished third.
Many thanks to Fergus (et famile), Reamonn, Doris, Alma, Tony, Kayanne, Kieran, Ruth and Eoin for Marshalling. Stay tuned for info on next weeks race location which we should have on Mon.
