| Faherty and Riall Take TT Titles |
“Sunshine on my shoulder makes me happy”, and the TT series continued to bring out the best of this beautiful summer again on Tuesday evening. The mountain road from Moycullen to Spiddal was at its most splendid with perfect views across to Inis Mor, Inis Middle and Inis Mini from the turnaround, as the series drew to a close. John Flannery (37:34) almost ended up in the Corrib as he raced his push bike at something close to the speed he is more used to on his commuter (motor)bike. Dave Bermingham (40:03) and Spencer Perkins (40:49) followed him home. But all eyes were on 4th place Noel Faherty who’s 8 points were enough to take the series, as series leader David Keaney was in ‘Hi Viz’ for the night. In the ladies race Miriam Wall (42:42) felt an opportunity to take the series was available due to the enforced absence of her arch rival Kristen Raill. However two powerful performances from new kid on the block Tara Whyte (41:35) and the ever improving Ruth Lynch (41:58) pushed the ‘Tiny Torpedo’ into third and ensured series victory for Riall.
