Cope Triathlon 2010

Galway triathlon club was well represented yestersay in the Cope Salthill triathlon. We were out in force with our shiny new gear. We looked the part but with not such great conditions we did not know if we would live up to expectations. The atmosphere was great in transition as old friends , new friends and future friends met. I think everyone knew somebody , who knew that body.

It was a windy morning with a promise of rain and a bit of a chop in the water. Poor Seb lost his buoys. They floated off course overnight so we were left with tiny red dots(sorry buoys) to swim around. A beach start and off we went. Navigation was a bit difficult but once we reached the first buoy the wind and tide carried us home. The only obstacle was swimming over the rocks on the way out of the water.

Out of the water and off on the bike. Rain and a strong head wind all the way to Furbo - enough to make to make you say a prayer as you passed the church. Keep your head down , keep peddling and think of how fast you will be cruising once you turn around. The return leg was fast. A few more cars to contend with and the right turn at Knocknacarra cross. Back into transition and off on the run.

The run was flat. Down to the Claddagh and back with an added loop to make up the 5km. A lovely run with loads of support on the way."Come On Galway Triathlon Club". Great results all round from G.T.Cers. Well done everyone.
