Former Olympian Catherina McKiernan to kick off GTC’s Christmas Party at Salthil

Galway Triathlon Club’s Christmas party will be kicked off with a special talk from guest speaker Catherina McKiernan. Catherina won silver in the World Cross Country championships four years in succession from 1992 to 1995. In 1994, she won the inaugural European Cross Country title. In 1992 and 1996, Catherina represented Ireland at the Olympic Games & In 1998; she became the first Irish person to win the London Marathon. Catherina has also won several national titles on the track and cross country and remains one of Ireland’s favourite all time sports personalities. In October 2004, Catherina retired from competitive athletics and is now a qualified Chi Running instructor, teaching the correct mechanics for effortless injury free running.
Her focus on the evening will be how to pace yourself for training, race techniques, running styles (common mistakes in novice runners that lead to injury) & of course Chi running. There will also be plenty of time for Q&A along the way.

Following the talk we will adjourn to the bar for the normal festive style party. There will be finger food (off season style) spot prizes aplenty, fun and frolics guaranteed. All members welcome and if you are a lapsed member, or would like to take up the sport next year, be sure to come along and introduce yourself on the night.

Veune and Date : Salthill Hotel, Sat November 28th.
